Find the exact point of confusion
Start with what learners actually get wrong, not the broad subject. "Explain compound interest" is a topic. "Why can two loans with the same rate cost different amounts?" is a learner problem.
Useful sources include repeated student questions, incorrect answers on assignments, the step where a demonstration usually stalls, comments on an earlier lesson, the analogy that consistently helps, jargon learners repeat without understanding, and the point where advanced learners and beginners need different explanations.
Choose one confusion for the recording. If the answer requires five prerequisites, either record those first or narrow the question again.
Use the CLICK structure
A short teaching answer can follow five moves: Confusion, Lens, Illustration, Check, and Known limit.
Confusion states the mistaken model or sticking point in fair language without caricaturing the learner. Lens offers the reframe that makes the problem easier to see, such as an analogy, diagram, rule, or contrast.
Illustration works through one concrete example with numbers, objects, a sentence, a screen, or a visible demonstration when possible. Check gives the learner a way to test whether the idea landed by predicting an outcome, identifying an error, or explaining the distinction back.
Known limit states where the explanation stops working or what complexity has been deliberately omitted. The structure protects against giving a memorable analogy with no transfer or simplifying a concept so aggressively that it becomes false.
A worked example
Suppose learners confuse correlation with causation. A weak short video says, "Correlation does not equal causation," then lists definitions.
A click-focused answer begins with a situation: ice-cream sales and sunburns rise together. The reframe is that hot, sunny weather can influence both. The illustration asks whether banning ice cream would reduce sunburn.
The check gives a second pair and asks the learner to propose a possible common cause. The limit explains that a correlation can still be part of causal evidence when supported by study design and other evidence.
The lesson is short, but it gives the learner a move they can reuse: look for alternative explanations and ask what evidence would separate them.
Prepare questions from teaching material
An educator can bring lesson plans, slides, student questions, transcripts, assignments, or a draft explanation into a recording workflow.
Turn those sources into prompts: Where do learners usually lose the thread? What do they believe before the lesson? Which example makes the distinction visible? What shortcut causes trouble later? How can the learner check their own understanding? What important nuance will this short explanation leave out?

Make the clip useful beyond the feed
A click moment can support several teaching jobs: preview a lesson before class, answer a recurring question, recap one difficult concept, provide a worked example, correct a misconception, or direct learners to a deeper resource.
Attach the clip to the full lesson when the subject requires more context. A short asset should be an entry point, with the source, evidence, and practice needed for real learning still intact.
Accessibility is part of teaching quality
Captions are part of the teaching work. W3C guidance recommends captions so people who are Deaf or hard of hearing can access speech and relevant non-speech audio, and transcripts provide a text alternative that can also support other uses.
Also describe essential visual information aloud. "As you can see here" is not enough if the viewer cannot see the graph. Say what changes: "The blue line stays flat while the red line doubles after the third trial."
Check contrast, text size, audio clarity, and pace. Do not place key information only in fast-moving on-screen text.
Honest limitations
A click moment is not proof that every learner understands the concept. Different backgrounds, languages, disabilities, and prior knowledge change what makes an explanation work. Treat audience response as feedback, not a universal verdict.
Some subjects are unsafe to compress. Medical, legal, financial, and high-risk technical instruction may require credentialed review, precise citations, and a format that preserves more context.
A clip also cannot substitute for guided practice, assessment, or dialogue. It can open a door; learning still needs a path.
Lesson-clip checklist
Before recording, name one learner and one confusion, choose one reusable reframe, prepare one concrete example, design one understanding check, state one limitation, and gather the source lesson or reference.
Before publishing, verify subject accuracy, keep the setup needed for meaning, add captions and a transcript where possible, describe essential visuals, link the deeper lesson, and invite a useful learner question.
Educators already have high-value material in the explanations that make a learner capable. A good workflow helps them capture it: record the moment the lesson clicks, preserve the context it needs, and let the clip lead back to deeper teaching.
